LRA at ASK Hanging Committee standing in front of my paintings

On Saturday night, January 23,  I went to the G.A.S. ( Gallery and Studio) Reunion Show reception at 196 Main Street in Poughkeepsie.  It is a co-op, started in 2007 by Franc Palaia and Aaron Miller, and I was one of the original 10 members showing new work.  The names of the members that are pictured in the photo BELOW are: top l-r Mike Sibilia, Patrick Wing;  bottom l-r Franc Palaia, me, Joanne Klein.   Although, as co-op members we enjoyed each others work and support, several of the original group moved onto other ventures.  My painting “The Fugitive” (30″x36″) is exhibited, the third in my “Women and Pets” series.

The first two in this series are showing now at Arts Society of Kingston (93 Broadway) in an exhibit with the 17 member co-op Long Reach Arts, (formerly Summergroup – the oldest mid HV co-op, at 26 years) in which I have current membership.   These are the only three paintings of this series that I will reveal until my SOLO SHOW at Donskoj & Co., next door to ASK (Arts Society of Kingston) in June.  You can see these three paintings if you go to my website – www.stacieflint.com.   They are on the OILS page, under “Women and Pets”, titled:  “Kitchen Dogs”, “Constant Companion”, and “The Fugitive”.  The hanging committee members picture above are Staats Fasoldt, Claudia Gorman, Jose Gomez, Carol Pepper-Cooper, Paul Cooper, and Elisa Pritzker.  I am usually a member of this committee, but couldn’t come on that day.  Great that they sent me this photo!

I value being a part of the vibrant Hudson Valley art scene, in which co-ops are a great contribution.  They provide connection, comraderie, idea exchange, support, as well as building the area culturally.  Each one has it’s own unique personality, as well.  Like  artists.

Here I am with "The Fugitive"

I love it when, during my day, I come across things that inspire me, and make me feel good about myself and the world.  One example is a short video (under 2 minutes) called “The Fun Theory”  that I want to share – a unique idea executed in Stockholm (by Volkswagon!) to inspire people to get more excersize in their busy day by making it fun.  Watch this:

There was a buzz at my booth last month at the Unison Holiday Fair in New Paltz, NY, as people really enjoyed my offbeat, playful and original paintings and commissioned portraits.  I received orders for several new portrait commissions of pets, grandchildren, families, and couples, from NYC, Connecticut, and the New Paltz, NY area which I am in the process of completing.  One woman wants a new painting created for her Manhattan apartment’s kitchen, and a thoughtful collector from Accord will visit my studio to choose a work.  I sold out the edition of my illustrated children’s book, “Ten Pigs Fiddling”, and the publisher has agreed to print another edition.  So thank you to all my friends and collectors who share my art and the life expressed in it!  See you at more events and I’ll stay in touch.
